Washington calls for "immediate cessation " of violence in Kordofan

The United States called for "immediate cessation" of violence in the city of Kadugli, capital of the state of South Kordofan, Sudan, and urged the Sudanese parties in conflict to contain the violence and minimize its effects and to respect "the commitment that they announced to the people of Sudan and the international community in terms of staying on the road to peace."
The U.S. State Department spokesman Mark Toner on June 8 that Washington views as "deep concern" to the information that indicated the occurrence of violence in South Kordofan, stressing that "unilateral military actions side, which threatens the course of negotiations about the future political and security of South Kordofan
The mandate of the Blue Nile neighbors must stop immediately. "
Toner and called Sudanese officials to "facilitate the access of the UN Mission in Sudan is fully in order to protect civilians and to provide a humanitarian corridor and to contribute to efforts to save the fragile peace between North and South Sudan."
